Democracy Lecture

  1. Campaign Effectiveness Follow Up (I'll try to do another comment about the Republican side, because they have a strong voter contact model and the controlling seats by winning local elections).

Here's an example of a "research-based" voter contact method- "During the 2002 Michigan general election for Governor a study working with the Democratic Youth Coordinated Campaign showed that youth turnout was increased through the use of doorhangers left within three days of the election (Nickerson, Friedrichs, and King 2006). This finding was supported by a 2005 study during the New Jersey general election for Governor suggesting that using doorhangers that included polling locations increased turnout (Nickerson, 2005).

There was an article in the NYTimes about this firm and topic- Nudge the Vote- http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/31/magazine/31politics-t.html?_r=1&ref=magazine
